Weeks 2, 3 & 4 of 52 Questions

As I mentioned last week, I have decided to take part in the UKS challenge - 52 Questions.

I have finally caught up with weeks 2, 3 and 4 - Yay - so I am now up to date (I wonder how long that will last)!

Week 2's questions was "Am I Scared of Change"?
Well, my answer is simple really - "not when I'm in control of it"!!!!!
I have used butterflies as a running theme throughout the layout - indicating change and left it quite simple. I've also used some posed photos left over from the self portraits that I took for a photography course before Christmas. I really dislike having my photo taken but at least when you take them yourself you can edit them and select the better shots!

Do I Believe in Fairies"?
This page is dedicated to my once 5 year old daughter who had a Disney dress up party. I can't believe that was more than 10 years ago!
I have journaled on the back boasting about the fact that I handmade her costume with an old charity shop bathing costume find, some netting, a coat-hanger tights and feather trim (for the wings). She looked just like Tinkerbell - don't you think?

I have heat embossed a forestry feel to the page and add some pretty flower trim to cheer up a bit and make it look more child-like.

Week 4
"When I look into my eyes I see..."
Oddly enough, I knew instantly what I wanted to say although no idea about what I wanted the page to look like.
I opted for black and white layering with an assortment of embellishments to compliment the colour scheme.
I used a vellum sheet over the whole layout to give it a masked / cloudy effect and this was done with reason.
My journaling, again, in very simple - "When I look into my eyes I see ... someone who is yet to reach their potential"
The vellum overlay is basically how I feel about my work life - not sure what to do next and wishing I had gone down a different and more vocational route to the one I ended up taking.

This whole question thing is getting rather deep!!!!

Qu 1. - 52 Questions

What a great challenge for 2011! UKS is hosting a question per week during the year to answer in whatever creative way you fancy and I'm already three weeks behind!

Question 1 - What are your hopes for 2011? That question was a challenge to answer in itself! I've missed loads off too!

I've decided to do Layouts to try and launch some creativity in this area again. Its been over 4 months since I last put together a scrapbook page and I actually found it rather challenging.

I'm quite pleased with the page but its a lot flatter than my usual style. I did add some machine stitching which is a first for me.

Being a new mummy again!

I can't believe how the time is flying by already. The last weeks of pregnancy dragged by like you wouldn't believe, then going ten days over due was just painful! Then Eva arrived. I seem to not be doing alot but the days are full with just being a new mummy again, and I'm loving every minute! I had a cat nap this afternoon cuddled up with Eva, it's the best thing in the world, some good things in life really are free!
I don't think I'll ever have time to scrapbook again, well a bit over the top maybe, but I am making sure that I take plenty of photo's so I can catch up with my album at some point.
I've taken some photo's this morning that I'm really pleased with, hope you like them!

Photography Practice

This line of Mini's nicked some of our car parking spaces at work yesterday - I think they belong to the sales team at the local rag. They looked pretty good lined up together so, this was the photo of the day!

A is for ... Antique
This chest belonged to my g g grandfather who lived in Great Catsworth, Huntingdonshire in the mid 1800's. It was passed down the family line until it reached my grandmother. Unfortunately, when she moved, she was unable to house this oak chest, so I claimed it for my living room. I knowit's not the prettiest item but I'm the very proud owner of this piece of history.

Matilda - This is my sister's cat, Matilda. She likes to drink from the tap!

Casey & Eva

I've been practicing with my new camera - although I havent got off suto settings just yet.

Ballet Shoes - these are on Eva's window sill - they are tiny. I wonder how old she will be when she fits into these?

My orchid - still blooming!

Learning material!

This is the inside of my washing machine - strange shot I know but feeling rather uninspired - plus, I managed to break off the front panel a couple of days ago!

Photographic Challenges

I was a very lucky girl and received a DSLR for Christmas from my family. Now I have to learn how to use it so I've joined the 365 Project and also the Flickr group - 2011 A-Z.

The 365 Project is about taking a photo each day and uploading to the site while the AtoZ challenge gives a letter of the alphabet every two weeks to create from.

Baby Photos as promised - Happy New Year

Mels' a bit busy at the moment, what with the new baby, so I thought I'd post a few photos of the gorgeous new addition to the family - Eva Frances!
My kids are very taken with her and wait patiently for ages for her to wake up for a cuddle.
She's a very aware little girl who is interested in her surroundings. She spends a long time just taking it all in. How lovely to have such a contented bundle!
She has also presented a wonderful opportunity to trial my brand spanking new camera that Santa bought me - I am a lucky girl!

Happy New Year everyone - I hope 2011 is fabulous!
